Why India failed in Second wave of COVID Management?

Political Aspirations of PM Narendra Modi
It was evident from the election rallies of West Bengal that the Covid cases will rise , Even Prime Minister Modi did not care about social distancing.

Health Ministers wrong assessment
In early March, India's health minister Harsh Vardhan declared the country was "in the endgame" of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Vardhan also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership as an "example to the world in international co-operation". From January onwards, India had begun shipping doses to foreign countries as part of its much-vaunted "vaccine diplomacy".

Mr Vardhan's unbridled optimism was based on a sharp drop in reported infections. Since a peak of more than 93,000 cases per day on average in mid-September, infections had steadily declined. By mid-February, India was counting an average of 11,000 cases a day. The seven-day rolling average of daily deaths from the disease had slid to below 100.

Wrong Priorities

India was celebrating Festivals and the KUMBH gathering . India was going through the second wave of the coronavirus, millions of devotees have descended on the banks of the Ganges river in the northern city of Haridwar to take a dip in the water.

Hindus believe the river is holy and taking a dip in it will cleanse them of their sins and bring salvation.

But the government of Uttarakhand state, where Haridwar is located, is facing heavy criticism for allowing the Kumbh Mela festival to go ahead amid a sharply worsening Covid picture.   India reported more than 200,000 Covid cases for the first time since the pandemic began after the festival.More than 40 Lakh people participated in the festival to take the holy dip.

Lack of awareness
