Imagine a pilot who want to do a crash landing, he may be cursed for the next 25 years for the causalities which may occur because of his decision. On the other way he can stop himself from landing the plane and take a round about and try landing again. That may cost the fuel cost to the airlines but the passengers may be safe. Can he consult any of his peers during that moment , No!!! its his own decision making power which plays the role and nobody will question him for his decision. So a leader need really good decision making skill at the top.

Making good decision is a journey from intuition to information, In between you need to think about criteria/facts , alternatives and risks/consequences, If you present to others with fact than probability is that they will go with your proposed solution,
